Fans are eagerly anticipating the next clash of the robots as the seventh movie in the Transformers franchise is set to hit theaters on June 9, 2023. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a sequel to the 2018 hit Bumblebee and introduces new characters and robots while paying homage to the popular Transformers Beast Wars storyline.

Here is Everything You Need to Know to Enjoy Transformers 7

Here are some key movie facts so you know what to expect from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

The Transformers Franchise

The Transformers movie franchise has been a massive success since the first movie’s release in 2007, with the series grossing nearly $5 billion in box office sales worldwide. The franchise got its start in 1984 with Hasbro’s wildly popular Transformers line of toys that can transform between vehicles and robots. The toys gave rise to an animated TV show and movie, which eventually transitioned to the live-action film series.

Here are the first six movies in the Transformer series:

  1. Transformers (2007): The first movie in the franchise involves an epic battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) becomes unwittingly involved when he purchases a used car that happens to be the Autobot Bumblebee in disguise.
  2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009): Sam and his friends join Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in their epic battle against the Decepticons.
  3. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011): Sam and the Autobots must fight against the darkness to defend against the Decepticons’ all-consuming evil.
  4. Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014): Set five years after the events of Dark of the Moon, this movie introduces new humans and fearsome Dinobots. Optimus Prime and the Autobots must fight to save the world from a new threat.
  5. Transformers: The Last Knight (2017): Once a hero, Optimus Prime becomes the enemy as he aims to save Cybertron by annihilating Earth. Bumblebee and Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) lead the Autobots against their former ally in the ultimate battle to save mankind.
  6. Bumblebee (2018): This spinoff and prequel takes place in 1987 where Bumblebee is hiding out in a junkyard in California. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), a teenage girl, finds Bumblebee and discovers it’s more than meets the eye.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy (2020-2021) is an animated series on Netflix that is also part of the Transformers franchise.

Rise of the Beasts Storyline

Set in the 1990s in New York City and Machu Picchu, Peru, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on an action-packed, globetrotting adventure as the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons join the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth. Humans Noah and Elena are swept up in the conflict as Optimus Prime and the Autobots face a terrifying new nemesis, Scourge, set on their destruction.

The latest Transformers movie runs 1 hour 57 minutes and is the second shortest in the series.

The movie is rated PG-13 for its intense action sequences, violence, and mild language. The Transformers movies include large-scale battles between the Autobots and Decepticons, often involving explosive action, destruction, and robot combat. A PG-13 rating by the MPAA strongly cautions parents that some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. All of the movies in the series have a PG-13 rating.
