Everything You Need to Know About Season 2 of “Nobody Wants This”

“Nobody Wants This” is a romantic comedy series that follows the unexpected romance between Joanne, an outspoken and unapologetic sex and relationship podcaster, and Noah, a devout and charismatic rabbi. The series premiered on Netflix in September 2024. Created by Erin Foster, the show was inspired by her real-life love story with her husband, Simon Tikhman, who is the co-founder and CEO of the music management company The Core Entertainment. Foster converted to Judaism before the two got married in 2019. However, the ending is not yet so clear for Joanne and Noah.
The series title, “Nobody Wants This,” is a direct reference to Joanne and Noah’s respective families being so dissimilar and critical of the love-match. Thankfully, that was not the case for Foster, who explained in interviews that she was welcomed by Tikhman’s family. In fact, his family even “loved the idea of the show,” according to Today. “Being happy is way harder than being miserable,” Foster told Tudum. “There’s nothing to complain about. So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard.”

The first season received widespread critical acclaim, currently holding a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers absolutely loved the chemistry between leads Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. Both actors received nominations for Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Critics Choice Awards, with Brody taking home the latter.

For the second season, the production welcomes Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan as new showrunners, working alongside Foster. The show is also expanding its cast. Most notably, Adam Bordy’s real-life wife, Leighton Meester, famous for her role as Blair Waldorf in “Gossip Girl,” is joining as Joanne’s middle school nemesis. Coincidentally, the casting makes for a “Gossip Girl” reunion since it was Kristen Bell herself who provided the voice of the anonymous blogger on all the show’s 121 episodes, before appearing on camera in the finale. “The reality is Leighton and I could never be nemeses,” Bell told Entertainment Tonight. “I just love her too much. She is such a wonderful woman, and I am so thrilled that she said yes. We are so happy to have her.”

Season 1 Recap (Spoilers)

Season 1 of “Nobody Wants This” introduces us to Joanne, a blunt and witty Los Angeles podcaster who co-hosts a sex and dating podcast with her sister, Morgan. At a dinner party, Joanne meets Noah, a recently single rabbi. Despite initially writing him off as a cliché divorcee, Joanne is intrigued, and their chemistry is instant. After a few chance encounters, including one at Noah’s temple, the two begin a slow, messy romantic connection.

Their early stages are full of hiccups: a disastrous group outing to a bar that ends in conflict with Noah’s sister-in-law, judgment from Noah’s mother, and a hospital visit to Noah’s ex, Rebecca, which leaves Joanne feeling sidelined. Still, the spark perseveres, and their first real date involves sex toy shopping and cooking at home, ending in a night together — but not without Noah fearing professional fallout after being recognized in the shop.

As the relationship deepens, Joanne struggles to fit into Noah’s more traditional social circles, while Noah clashes with her outspoken personality and career. Things fall further off-balance when Noah introduces Joanne as a “friend” at his summer camp job, and again when he awkwardly meets her parents. Tension continues building after Joanne discovers a box of Rebecca’s belongings at Noah’s place, and Rebecca later tells Morgan that Noah isn’t serious about Joanne.

Feeling undermined, Joanne stops trying to win Rebecca over and instead bonds with Sasha’s daughter, Miriam, while helping with her bat mitzvah — much to Rebecca’s frustration. When Joanne finds out about Morgan’s role in spreading Rebecca’s misinformation, she confronts her. Meanwhile, Noah’s mother, Bina, reveals she wants Joanne to convert to Judaism. A well-meaning, but disastrous family dinner emphasizes Joanne’s outsider status.

In the Season 1 finale, Joanne chooses to convert. But after confronting Rebecca at Miriam’s bat mitzvah and hearing how much Rebecca had hoped to be a rabbi’s wife, Joanne realizes that maybe she’s sacrificing too much of herself. She pulls away from Noah, not wanting him to compromise his identity for her. But Noah chases after her, unwilling to let her go. The season ends on an emotionally uncertain, but hopeful note.

Season 1 of “Nobody Wants This” is now streaming on Netflix.

Plot

“Nobody Wants This,” Season 2 picks up exactly where the first season left off, with Joanne and Noah committed to making their relationship work, but now facing the real-world consequences of that decision. Noah cannot accept his dream job as head rabbi and marry a non-Jewish woman. Joanne cannot bring herself to convert to Judaism unless she is committed wholeheartedly. The second season is expected to further explore the themes of love, sacrifice, compromise, and the conflict between what the heart wants and what reality will allow.

Netflix’s official Season 2 synopsis reads, “The challenge now is not just falling in love against all odds, but staying together in spite of them.”

Release Date & Episode Count

“Nobody Wants This,” Season 2, will have 10 episodes, and each episode is expected to be roughly 30 minutes long. All episodes will be released on Thursday, October 23, 2025, on Netflix.

How to Stream Nobody Wants This, Season 2

“Nobody Wants This,” Season 2 will be released in its entirety on October 23, 2025, on Netflix. Being an exclusive property of a streaming platform has its pros and cons. Firstly, it takes the guesswork out of the equation. Netflix is the only official choice to view the new season, and it consistently delivers high-quality entertainment to its subscribers. However, Netflix does not bundle with other streaming providers, so fans of “Nobody Wants This” have to prioritize a standalone subscription.

This limited availability has made popular shows like “Nobody Wants This” targets for illegal pirate sites. Any platform other than Netflix claiming to have Season 2 of “Nobody Wants This” is almost certainly fraudulent.
