The «escaping» homeless, formerly famous sportsman, is forced to stop for a while in provincial snow-covered Zarechensk. Victor gets a job in an orphanage, and soon finds an all-understanding friend and beloved woman in the person of a young teacher. But fate is not going well and not bad, but just so that the hero knows for sure that he cannot run away from himself. Therefore, it is in Zarechensk that the train with the capital's film group returning to Moscow is forced to stop for several days. And it is Zarechensk that will turn out to be the city in which the director will finally find the leading actress and meet her husband who has run away from love. And the producer will ultimately make the only correct decision, choosing this city as the location for the future film.
